Candidate Development

GM seeks to have the best and most diverse dealer network in the industry. Accomplishing these goals require GM to pursue the best talent in the industry for future dealer ownership opportunities.   Whether you are a current dealer or looking for your first ownership opportunity, GM wants the best.

The Dealer Candidate process allows GM to proactively identify leaders in automotive retailing. If you are a current dealer, GM team members will interview you and research your performance at your current dealership(s) to determine next steps and potentially best fit opportunities. If you are looking for your first ownership opportunity, the process will include meeting with an interview panel and potentially participating in a GM Dealer Expertise Assessment that includes a variety of business simulations and screenings. Dealer Candidate experience should include top management experience in the auto retail environment, such as General Manager, CFO, etc. Our vetting benefits the candidate as well, by identifying strengths, interests and business acumen. Candidates are also mentored by experienced dealers and network leaders to prepare them prior to placement in the program.

GM also provides financial partnership opportunities for successful dealer candidates through GM Motors Holding if you do not have the financial investment needed to purchase a dealership privately.

This development process begins here with the completion and submission of a GM Dealer Application. All applicable forms such as Source of Funds, samples of the Gift Letter, and Power of Attorney are also included.
